About Defend Your Job

Defend Your Job is a free browser arcade game inspired by late-1980s side-scrolling shooters. You play as a worker fighting off badly deployed AI slop thrown by a reckless billionaire boss.

The joke is not that AI is evil. The enemy is irresponsible AI hype: replacing people with hallucinations, automation theatre, black boxes, and broken tools.

How to play

Move left and right, dodge projectiles, fire back, collect powerups, and survive long enough to defeat the boss.

Desktop: use A/D or arrow keys to move, Space to shoot, and P to pause.
Mobile: use the on-screen touch controls.

Power-ups

Every power-up restores a little job security. Most also fight back for you:

Audit Logs — documents (destroys) the nearest incoming threat.
Rubber Duck — freezes every threat for a few seconds.
Human Review — slows every threat to a crawl.
Scope Shield — blocks your next hit, and stacks up to two.
Works On My Machine — reflects threats back at the boss.
Procurement Delay — stops the boss firing for a few seconds.
Legal Review — redacts (clears) every memo on screen.
Coffee & Union Card — top up your job security and rattle the boss.

Scoring & streaks

Destroy threats without getting hit to build a streak multiplier — every few kills raises it a tier (up to 5×), and each kill is worth that much more. Watch the STREAK badge by your score. Taking a hit resets it, so blocking with a shield or reflect keeps your run alive and your multiplier climbing.
